Product description
This slow-sinking pencil jerkbait is built around an internal rattle system that throws out a sharp, loud knock every time you twitch the rod tip. The slim profile and belly-weighted design let it sit just under the surface between twitches, giving bass a long look at a wounded baitfish silhouette.
Available in 115mm and 145mm sizes, it covers everything from finicky largemouth in clear lakes to aggressive smallmouth and pike in stained water. Use it on a twitch-pause retrieve around points, grass edges, and open water where a subtle, noisy dying-baitfish look draws reaction strikes.
How to fish it
- Cast past the target area and let the bait settle for a second before starting your retrieve.
- Use a twitch-pause cadence, snapping the rod tip and letting the bait glide and sink briefly on slack line.
- Slow the retrieve and lengthen pauses in cold water or when bass are following without committing.
- Work it along grass lines, laydowns, and points where baitfish stage, watching for strikes on the pause.
Frequently asked
The 145mm is a larger profile suited for bigger bass and pike, while the 115mm casts easier and works well for finesse jerkbait presentations on largemouth and smallmouth.
Choose brighter or chartreuse-based patterns for stained water and more natural, translucent shad or perch patterns for clear water.
A medium-power spinning or casting rod with 10 to 15 pound fluorocarbon or 20 to 30 pound braid with a fluorocarbon leader gives good action and control.
It performs well in cooler water during pre-spawn and fall, and it is effective anytime bass are keying on baitfish near the surface or just below it.
