Stained to muddy water and cold fronts are prime jig conditions because bass hold tighter to cover and want a slower, bulkier bait they can feel with their lateral line. Jigs also excel in cover so thick that other lures would foul, since a good weed guard lets you fish wood, grass, and rock with far fewer hang ups.
