Rigs & Setups Glossary
Rigs and setups determine how your soft plastic or lure behaves in the water, how it falls, and how many bites you convert into fish in the boat. Understanding the strengths of each rig lets you match your presentation to the cover, depth, and mood of the bass you are targeting.
- Carolina Rig. A dragging rig with the weight fixed above a long leader.
- Drop Shot. A finesse rig with the hook tied above the weight.
- Ned Rig. A small soft plastic on a light mushroom jig head.
- Texas Rig. A weedless setup with a bullet weight and a hidden hook point.
- Wacky Rig. A stick bait hooked in the middle for a shimmy fall.
- Weedless. Rigged so the hook point does not snag cover.
