Vibration baits (lipless crankbaits) shine in pre-spawn and fall when bass are chasing shad in open water or over grass flats, worked with a lift-and-fall retrieve. Square-bill crankbaits from the same line work best around wood cover and rock in 2 to 6 feet of water, especially in low light or slightly murky conditions when bass rely on feel and sound to locate prey.

Jerkbaits produce best in cooler water, under 60 degrees F, when bass are sluggish and want a suspending bait they can inspect without chasing hard. Soft plastics rigged Texas or wacky style work year-round but really earn their keep in high-pressure clear-water lakes where bass have seen a lot of hard baits and want something subtler.
